How To Tell If Someone Is Interested in You

Do they like you? Yes or no?

In today’s dating world this is a very hard question to answer. There is no shortage of ways to meet someone new. With so many dating apps, social media, and gaming sites it’s easier than ever to meet new people and develop relationships with anyone around the world.

When you think about if someone is romantically interested in you, it brings up an avalanche of other questions. This post will help you determine a person’s interest in you and what that really means in dating.

What Do You Want

Most singles are stuck in the cycle of liking someone because that person seems to like them. This isn’t always the case but it’s easier to be confident in the dating marketplace if you already know that the other person is interested.

Before you start to check the list and build the evidence that someone is interested in you romantically, ask yourself if you are interested in them. If you are… why?

Do you want a relationship, a friendship, a friend with benefits, a new sexual experience or something more? Knowing what you want makes it easier to judge the signs that another person is giving you that they are interested.

For example, if you want a long term committed relationship with someone who has a girlfriend or boyfriend, then even if they are interested in you, are you willing to face the challenge of dating someone who is already dating someone else? It is very possible that this person has an interest in you and may even leave their current partner for you, but that doesn’t mean you should pursue this endeavor. If you just want to have a sexual experience, would it really be worth ruining a relationship?

That’s why knowing what you want is the most important part of the process.

Do They Make Time For You

The first sign that someone is interested in you romantically is if they make time for you and how much. If someone seriously likes you then they will always make themselves available to you. If they are just interested in sex or something casual then they will make time sometimes but when it is convenient for them.

Many people confuse making time for someone and wanting attention. If you are engaging with someone who makes time speak with you on the phone but does ALL of the talking, then they just want your attention. If they are always available to engage in activities where YOU pay then they just want attention.

A good test to see if someone is really interested in you is to plan something intimate such as a picnic, a hike, or a scenic drive.

Just spending time together with no distractions is the best way to judge someone’s romantic interest in you. If you are constantly planning around their schedule, or you don’t hear from them for days, weeks, or months then they suddenly reemerge then they are not interested in you, they just want attention.

Do They Ask You About Yourself

The biggest mistake that people make when determining if another person is interested in them is confusing attention for interest. As mentioned before, someone who is showing you attention or seeking your attention isn’t always interested in who you are as a person or what you offer. The best way to tell if someone is interested in you is by the questions that they ask you.

Are they curious about what you like, don’t like or your plans for the future. Do they remember the small details of your life and hobbies? Imagine this common scenario, someone is flirting with you, constantly sending you messages, giving you compliments, and is never shy about wanting to see you.

Stop and consider if they are available to you or if you are available to them.

Does it feel like you are at their beck and call, waiting for them to hit you up or are they excited and available when you hit them up? This is a HUGE indicator of interest. The reason being, if you needed them would they be there.

Of course someone wants your attention but liking someone is about wanting to be in their life in a consistent way. If you don’t feel like the person would be there if you gave them a call and wanted to talk, hang out, or see each other then they just aren’t that into you.

There are some people who are incredibly shy and would have a hard time showing their feelings or expressing their true emotions to you. If you like someone and want to know if they are interested in you, the best way to tell is to ask for their time and attention when it is convenient to you. Someone who likes you will make the effort to give you what you want, someone who doesn’t like you will make excuses.
